Divorce: Top 5 Reasons why People Terminate their Marriage

Reasons For Divorce
Marriage is a union of two people who promised to spend the rest of their lives forever with each other. It is basically grounded on the fact that love, trust, and respect are the foundation of the relationship. However, as many people say, there will come a time that a marriage may get rocky. It happens when different problems arise in the family, though problems are inevitable. There are instances that problems can be easily handled, yet there are those which are difficult to mend. The worst thing that may happen is to let the marriage end up in divorce.

Divorce is a legal process which terminates the marriage. It is safe to say that divorce is a painful process as some people cannot bear with it and could not move on, for those who can, it usually take time. And this phase in the life of the couple becomes more unbearable when there are children involved. The effects of divorce can be long term or short term. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure, when there is divorce there will always be people who get affected in one way or the other. However, what are exactly the reason behind such? What are the factors that lead the relationship to such misfortune? Understanding the reasons behind divorce is very important as this thing often stems from serious underlying situations.

Infidelity
It is a very rare case that couples still stay together after infidelity. The reason is often the children. However, infidelity is one of the major causes of divorce. A broken trust will always be difficult to get back. Cheating after all is a sign of deeper and bigger problems in the marriage.

Getting Married at a Young Age
Some couples, after years of marriage get bored or experience monotony or they grow apart because of their different wants, needs, and personalities. In general, getting married at a very young age is not a good idea. As the person grows and matured, his goals and experiences in life change. When this happens, marrying to a person who do not share the things like goals and passions with you is likely to end up in divorce.

Financial Issues

Financial Issues
Economic problem is also a contributor to divorce. A poor economy can give too much pressure to the couple. Without a solid economic grounding, it would be difficult to maintain a successful marriage. When the income is not good, couples tend to argue and bicker about how to make ends meet. The same thing happens when the playing field is not equal when it comes to money.

Addiction Problems
In some instances, some people get married without realizing that their partner is an alcoholic or addicted to alcohol or drugs. When addiction is not prevented from further problems that it may cause, it will only create chaos within the family, and most likely the marriage will end up in divorce.

Lack of Communication
When people have been married for quite a long time, they have the tendency to get loss for words or have nothing to say about each other anymore. When the communication gets cut off, it can lead to misunderstandings and when things become more difficult to deal with, divorce may happen.

  1. I agree with your top five reasons, but you missed one thing – abuse. There are couples who get divorced since there one is either abusing the other or abusing the kids. This abuse kills the person softly, and painfully, I might add. I hope that physical and emotional abuse won’t be so prevalent in the next generations so that families will never be broken again. :)

  2. It's so interesting to read this! My husband and I are talking about divorce, we just don't see eye to eye anymore. Lack of communication is really hard, because it's so hard to get back. I like what you said about how it can lead to misunderstandings, which can lead to a divorce.
